Wings Take Flight, Exploring a Triad of Colors for Mother’s Day

Paper Butterfly Accents for Mothers Day: Berry Burst, Summer Splash, and Peach Pie; a Triad of Colors

The focus of this beautiful card is the Unbounded Beauty DSP wich is based on a beautiful Triad of Colors Two of which are part of the new 2024-2026 In-Color collection. Berry Burst, Summer Splash, and Peach Pie are all colors of the Triad that can be found in the Red Violet, Yellow Orange, and Blue Green collections in the Stampin’ Up! color wheel in the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. Stampin’ Up! used their colors to fit into the color wheel. Some of the colors in the clusters are shades or tints of the 12 colors represented in the wheel. Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colors are Red, Red Orange, Orange, Yellow Orange, Yellow, Yellow Green, Green, Blue Green, Blue, Blue Violet, Violet, and Red Violet.

Tints and shades are created by adding white or black to a Hue (pure color). Subltes are tinted with white. Regals are shaded with black. Brights are closer to pure color or a hue. In the new Stampin’ Up! color wheel you can see how Stampin’ Up! has gathered all these hues, tints, and shades into color groupings around the 12 basic colors to help you create color combinations. The Triad is created by finding three colors spread equidistant around the color wheel. In this case the Red Violet, the Yellow Orange, and the Blue Green are all 3 colors away from each other on the wheel.

The sentiments on the card front and on the inside came from the Flower Cart Stamp set. I used the Flower of Beauty Stamp set and dies (part of the Unbounded Beauty Suite collection) to finish off the inside of the card. The bright flowers Berry Burst and Summer Splash to the inside.

These lovely butterflies from the Paper Butterfly Accents are a perfect embellishment for this card. These butterflies are so easily colors with the blending brushes. I used the Peach Pie, Pretty in Pink, and Berry Burst Classic Stampin’ pads to create the soft colors on the wings. It also echos two of the Triad Colors and the frame for the sentiment bring it together. For a little bling, Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs are perfest. They shimmer in the light so softly.

This was a fun card to create with all the different elements. The die cut frame for the sentiment was cut in Basic White and Summer Splash. It was easy to fit the Basic White interior sentiment block into the Summer Splash Frame once it was adhered to the card front.

I really had fun making this card. It was really easy to make and a great option for a Specila Mom in your life.
