The September – December Mini Catalog is Almost Here!
More than Autumn is an amazing bundle in this new catalog. Autumn is such an exciting time of year for so many reasons! Apple Season starts this weekend, and every weekend for the next 2 months I will be at the picking hut for a local orchard (if you are local to Central Massachusetts check out Shelburne Farm, I’ll be there every weekend!) As a 2nd Grade teacher, school is starting up. With 30 stamps and 23 dies the More than Autumn Bundle is an amazing deal. Everything from apples and cider to pumpkin spice latte and hot cocoa are included in this fall themed bundle. Perfect for Autumn in New England.
Now I love that this Bundle includes Cider Doughnuts (although around here in the Northeast it is written Donuts). I realized quickly that the image for this donut looks more like a raised donut with a glaze and sprinkles. The coloring of this donut took a bit of figuring out, because a cider donut is a cake donut and either plain or with cinnamon sugar. This is what I did:
- I used Pecan Pie and stamped off once before adding it to the inside of the card.
- I started coloring the outside of the the image with Pecan Pie Light Blends. This helped fade some of the glaze and sprinkle details.
- The Light, Medium Light, and the Ivory Blends Combos were helpful in creating the light coating of the cinnamon sugar (the only way to have a cider donut from this seasoned Apple Season Girl)!
- In the end I used the Pecan Pie Dark to give it som depth and blended with the Pecan Pie light Blends
Analogous Color Scheme
Although Apple Season is represented by many colors, I chose an analogous color scheme for this card. Analogous colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. When you look at the cardstock of these colors, you will notice that Cherry Cobbler is a darker version (or a shade) of Real Red. Poppy Parade looks to be in between Real Red and Cajun Craze. These colors are very close to each other on the color wheel which is why Stampin’ Up! used them together in the Autumn Splendor DSP. I used the Cajun Craze in the cinnamon stick so that I could highlight it in the DSP design. This color combination truly brings the feel of autumn to the designs of this beautiful DSP. These are must have items your autumn designs.
