Creating Memories with Paper Pumpkin
My Favorite Place to Create with Paper Pumpkin
is the Wild Hare cafe in Hudson. What makes it my favorite place is that I make so many friends when I share my box with people who become new friends. This morning I was sitting next to two little girls and their parents. I could see they had finished and were on to the next thing, while mom and dad were trying to enjoy their coffee. I remember those days. Now that my three children are off on their own (2 married and 1 engaged), I treat myself to breakfast on the weekends, mostly to be with other people. My house is pretty quiet these days. But I digress, I asked the mom if I could let the girls make a Valentine’s Day card. I was only correcting papers for my 2nd graders and I was ready for a distraction as well. I had the January Paper Pumpkin in my bag. If you are not familiar with the Paper Pumpkin Kit, it is an all inclusive subscription kit. It is so easy to take with you anywhere. This is a great video of the January kit.
The girls were first and second graders. They found it so easy and fun to create the cards. They knew just who they were going to give it to when they finished. The mom and I started talking and I found out that they lived in the next town over. Her daughter told me she was a teacher too! Would you believe it, she is a 2nd grade teacher as well! Soon we were sharing ideas about reading and writing.
Making It Homemade
A little after that, I ran into a young couple that had made a card with me before Christmas. They couldn’t wait to tell me how much their in-law loved the card and how it was such a special gift. I told her about how when we were cleaning out my Mom’s house after she passed in 2021, my sister found a few files with things she saved from her children. This card was in the file.
I made it when I was 14 or 15 and just learning how to write with caligraphy pens. I’ll have you know I did that with a quill and a bottle of ink! She kept that card for almost 50 years. It is amazing how a homemade card can touch someone’s heart. I think that is why when I found Stampin’ Up! I fell in love with their amazing products.
Paper Pumpkin Stepped Up
With a little bit of Gold Embossing Powder, a sheet of Fancy Flora DSP, some Gold Faceted Sequin Backed Sequins, and a card base from the December Paper Pumpkin add on. I created a a whole design for this theme. The key, heart lock, Calypso Coral twine, and the label came from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The heart and lock embossed in gold on the envelope are stamps found in the kit. There is so much you can do even after you finish making the cards in the kit. Discover Paper Pumpkin for yourself.
