Celebrating My Dad
Sailing Home is a wonderful place to start. When I ponder “How do I tell my dad how special he is?” Especially now, when I see his brain robbing him of his memories. My Dad is 88 years old and still teaching me about life and the way to make it through the challenges life throws at you. In these uncertain times, it is good to recenter and look for your “True North”.
I love the Sailing Home Stamp Set. I had such a wonderful time using the Stampin’ Blends to color the boats and the lighthouse.
I used Crumb Cake Light and Dark, Smoky Slate Light and Dark, and Ivory in the sails. The lighthouse is colored with Granite Gray Light. For the red stripes I used Poppy Parade Light and blended with Granite Gray to soften the color. I love the subtle colors on the Seaside Spray Cardstock, but the boats need a little pop. I used Light Balmy blue and Light Pumpkin Pie with a touch of Light Cajun Craze. I also used the Light Seaside Spray around each of the die cuts to help it blend into the card just a little. As is my style, I used the coloring techniques to be the major focus of the card design.
The simplicity of the subtle embossing folder adds to the depth of the design and is a great contrast to the Ornate Frames Dies for the sentiment. Because I used the Night of Navy Cardstock for the base, I needed to lighten up the inside.I used Seaside Spray Cardstock and did a tone on tone stamp (stamping off once) with the light house. The Stamparatus came in handy when it came time to build the sentiment from all the words in A Wish For Everything Stamp Set. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.
