Happy Mother’s Day from Team Stamp It
How do you tell your mother how truly special she is in just a few words or an image? Sara Douglas recently reminded us of how special it makes one feel to receive a card that is made with love and care. I am also reminded of a line delivered in the 1980’s movie “You’ve Got Mail”. In exchange between Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) and Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan)
Joe Fox: It wasn’t… personal.
Kathleen Kelly: What is that supposed to mean? I am so sick of that. All that means is that it wasn’t personal to you. But it was personal to me. It’s *personal* to a lot of people. And what’s so wrong with being personal, anyway?
Joe Fox: Uh, nothing.
Kathleen Kelly: Whatever else anything is, it ought to begin by being personal.
With texts, and emails and blogs even, we forget to be personal. For Mother’s Day I chose simplicity with a monochromatic design (well more of analogous colors) and a single phrase to express the magnitude of love and appreciation I have for my own mother.
I started with the butterfly in Watercolor Wings. So often I have seen this butterfly image stamped with a lovely foil Butterflies Thinlits Die cutout layered on top. It is a truly lovely combination, but I was looking for something a little more unique, like each butterfly that lands on the flowers of my butterfly garden. So I layered the stamps twice on Shimmery White Card Stock. The bottom butterfly has a Soft Sky base, Marina Mist outside and Pacific Point in the center. The Thinlits Die cutout I also started with a Soft Sky base, Pacific Point on the edge and I embossed with silver in the center. After I cut out the image with the Thinlits Die, I used the coordinating markers to touch up any colors I missed. I am not perfect, I am not symmetrical, and I am a unique design. I wanted this image to be the same. I used the Irresistibly Floral Designer Series Specialty Paper and a sponge roller to apply the Marina Mist, which in turn created my own unique DSP. I used Pacific Point for the So Detailed Thinlits Die.
The card base is Marina Mist. On the inside along with the “Happy Mother’s Day” I decided to add Butterflies from Butterfly Basics stamped in the Marina Mist ink to add texture.
I hope you enjoy this card and continue on to see the other incredible work done by this group. Don’t forget to comment below for a chance to win the wonderful Watercolor Wishes Card kit. You must include #stampitcontest for your name to be included. (I think the program searches for that and catches your name). One entry for each blog you comment on in this hop.
